The future thinks differently

Max Thinius – Futurologist, bestselling author, moderator, is considered one of Europe’s leading futurologists with a focus on society, sustainability, business and trade.

He talks and writes about digitalisation, the future, social development, trade, politics, education, quality of life – in short, a networking generalist view of all aspects of our society and how our everyday life will change.

In order to be able to use the new possibilities of digitalisation, we must learn to think differently. Otherwise it would be as if people had tried to steer cars like horse-drawn carriages at the beginning of industrialization. That’s not possible either. Today, unfortunately, we often try to control digital processes with industrial thinking. That is why it is important to understand: the future thinks differently. And you can learn how it thinks.

As a consultant Max shows people, companies and regions to learn to think in new ways. This helps them to recognize their own future potential, develop innovations and drive their own orientation towards the future.

He publishes in many public media and moderates the interaction of political, economic and civil society interest groups within the scope of his work for various associations (bevh, Bitkom, BDI). Furthermore, he is a guest of the “Scientific Advisory Council of the Federal Government” and explains the implementation of digitisation and social future models for a long-term prospective development.

With his lectures and publications, Max describes the development of society in entertaining stories and builds scenarios of how it will develop over the next 2-15 years. In doing so, he demystifies many of the common prejudices and instead explains the actual opportunities. Our future will certainly be prospective – but we must change our thinking and know that we can influence it ourselves.

In addition to his actual vocation, Max is a trained actor, presenter, comedian and has been head of the chair for conception and innovation at the IMK in Berlin and Wiesbaden for 10 years.

In 1988 he was inspired by Anita Roddick (founder of the Body-Shop) and learned how to change the future of many people positively with a little rethinking. Later he worked for agencies and media houses, always with the goal of “making the future”. In the process, he also helped to build up a sustainable investment house, helped to develop the first international sustainable rating agency for financial products and an institute for strategy evaluation – with a view to their future viability.

For Deutsche Post, Max had the mandate to build up the food online trade for eight years and revolutionized the food market as association spokesman (bevh, bitkom) and lobbyist. He is co-organizer of the Next-Generation-Food – as Germany’s industry think-tank, together with Millennial Hendrik Haase (Food is Pop), he brought the first comedy format on the topic of “Küche 4.0, wie wir in Zukunft leben” (Kitchen 4.0, how we will live in the future) to the stage and in TheGentlePack (, together with the nephew of Kofi Annan, Ato Yankah jr., he tackles the topic of overall social quality of life from the perspective of the new Gentlemen and Gentlewomen 4.0.

Today Max and his team work for various DAX-listed companies such as medium-sized companies, regions, political parties and trade associations.
